Cheese and bread is the ultimate classic combination one just cannot go wrong with. And if we were to push those boundaries a bit, we can have the simplest of combination turned into an exotic one.

The crispy toast smeared with creamy ricotta with the unlimited variety of toppings…simple and yet so, so delicious. Served at a party or as a quick snack or even as your breakfast, it will please you with its simplicity and its taste.

The leftover milk bread slices turned into a beautiful toast which I generously smeared with my cheat’s ricotta. I did the toasts two ways; I topped one toast with juicy pomegranate seeds and freshly toasted walnuts and it was SO delicious. And if that does not seem enough, try the insanely mouthwatering combination of dark chocolate and chili. The shavings of dark chocolate with marinated sliced red chili on a bed of ricotta is a toast sure to brighten up your day ?

And just like my other recipes, here are some of other ideas that would do wonders to a plain ricotta toast:

  1. Berries and Nutella, an absolute favourite
  2. Capsicum, cheese and corn sautéed in butter
  3. Roasted tomatoes in all its glory
  4. Flavours of ricotta – lemony, honey, peppery, herby
  5. Caramelized pineapple or orange slices
  6. Garlic flavoured mushrooms
  7. Roasted chickpeas and sev the Indian style
  8. Or go a different route and flavour the ricotta instead – peppery, herby, lemony or simply honey ricotta is mouth-watering on its own.
