Mint yogurt chutney
Refreshing and tangy yogurt mint chutney can be made in less than 10 minutes. It’s a simple, fresh and flavorful accompaniment to biryani, wrap, dabeli…the list is endless!!
Chutney is such a simple accompaniment and yet can be so tricky to get the right balance. A perfect chutney is something that brings out the best out of your main meal. Muthia is delicious on its own but dunked in a chutney makes it lip smacking delicious. Or take my cheese and chutney babka…a bread with swirls of the coriander chutney that makes it drool worthy.
Yogurt-mint chutney not only packs a punch but is super easy to make it too. It can be made in less than 10 minutes with few basic ingredients. Do make it and don’t forget to give me feedback.

Refreshing and tangy yogurt mint chutney can be made in less than 10 minutes. It’s a simple, fresh and flavorful accompaniment to biryani, wrap, dabeli…the list is endless!!
Ingredients
- 1 cup thick yogurt
- 2 green chilies
- ½ inch ginger
- 1 clove garlic
- ¼ cup coriander leaves with roots and stalks, loosely packed
- 1 cup mint leaves, loosely packed
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp black salt
- Salt to taste
Method
- In a blender combine coriander roots, chili, ginger, garlic and black salt and grind into a coarse paste.
- Add mint leaves, coriander leaves, lemon juice and grind it into a paste. If needed, add 1 tbsp of yogurt to grind it in a smooth paste.
- In a bowl, place thick yogurt and add the mint paste.
- Mix well and adjust the seasoning.
- Keep it refrigerated till ready to serve.
Notes
- The trick to keep the herb chutney green and vibrant in colour is to grind it for a short time. The heat of the blade in the grinder can wilt the leaves quickly. Therefore, do grind the aromats first before adding the herbs to keep the vibrant colour intact.
- Strain the natural yogurt for few hours over a muslin wrapped colander to get a thick yogurt for the yogurt-mint chutney.
