Masala grapes popsicle with popping candy
These icy, sweet and spicy masala grapes popsicle has no sugar/honey and yet full of flavors! Sprinkle with cola flavored popping candy and you will have a party in your mouth ?
What could be better than licking a chatpata icy cold fruity popsicle on a hot day? With a box of grapes lying in my fridge and my cousin/friend’s ‘demand’ that I put up a recipe of black grape pani puri that I had made years ago, I knew I had to make these popsicles.
Call it popsicles or better yet as my son calls them ‘chuski’!! they make a healthy and delicious treat. 6 ingredients, 10 minutes and zero sugar, what else could one ask for in a sweet treat? The sprinkling of the popping candy is totally optional but trust me, it just elevates this popsicle to another level. The sound, the textures and the feel of the popping candy makes this amazing popsicle an extraordinary one ?
And as always, some substitutions ideas your way ?
- Black jamun (black plum) or phalsa pulp would taste equally great with the given spice combination
- Blueberries too would be a great option, however do increase the lemon juice to balance the tartness.
- Add mint leaves to get the undertones of black grapes pani for pani puri!

These icy, sweet and spicy masala grapes popsicle has no sugar/honey and yet full of flavors! Sprinkle with cola flavored popping candy and you will have a party in your mouth ?
Ingredients
- 3 cups red grapes
- ¼ tsp roasted cumin powder
- ½ tsp black salt
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves
- 1 green chili, deseeded
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Popping candy for garnish
Method
- Put the grapes, chili and coriander in a blender to make a pulp.
- Strain the pulp in a bowl.
- Add the rest of the ingredients except popping candy and combine well.
- Pour the mix in the kulfi mould filling it ¾ way.
- Put the lid on and place the moulds in the freezer for 3 hours.
- Remove the lids and place the stick in the middle and re freeze the popsicles overnight.
- To serve, remove the moulds from the freezer and rub your hands around the mould. The heat of your hands will release the popsicle.
- Sprinkle the popping candy over the popsicle and enjoy!
Notes
- You could substitute red grapes for green or black grapes.
- The green chili gives undertone of spice in this popsicle which in turn enhances the sweetness. However, you can skip it if you like.
- Skip the step no 5 if you are using a popsicle mould. Fill the moulds ¾ way, put the lid on and freeze it overnight.
- If you don’t have a kulfi mould, you can use a disposable plastic cup as well. Pour the mix in 6-7 cups filling it halfway and insert a stick once it is half frozen.
